The Architecture Studio III does not conform to traditional ideas of architecture. Nevertheless—or perhaps precisely because of this—it garners awards and attention both domestically and internationally. Thirteen years of the studio under the leadership of Prof. Imrich Vaško, along with its achievements and an extensive range of projects, are showcased in the exhibition *Archipelago 13 A3, held at the UM Gallery.
The exhibition at the UM Gallery can be divided into four areas that the studio has focused on since 2011: new nature, materiality, robotic production, and data space. Archipelago consists of a representative collection of successful projects and their authors without an authoritative hierarchy, typological categorization, or timeline. Nearly thirty architectural models created by students, doctoral candidates, as well as former and current studio instructors and their colleagues, are presented to the public. The thematic groups—"islands"—highlight remarkable and often award-winning projects that have been recognized in domestic and international exhibitions such as Milano Design Week, Ars Electronica in Linz, Austria, Kunsthalle in Bratislava, or the Czech Cultural Center and BrotFabrik in Vienna. On display are not only models but also tangible outputs from research projects, such as technologically experimental chairs created in collaboration with the Slovak companies ITB and ASL.
