The Alienated Landscape

project with students of PedF UK

October 2023 - January 2024

Exploring public space through site-specific art

One of the characteristic features of the Anthropocene (or in L. Young's terminology, of the Post-Anthropocene) is the alienation of humans from the space they inhabit. A large number of places around us are not designed for humans, human movement in them is restricted or complicated, their clarity is hampered. This includes industrial areas, transport hubs, brownfields, but also spaces originally intended for public use. One way to recognise and humanise these places is through artistic activities (site-specific interventions and performances).

Artistic interventions serve to explore the deeper context of a place.
